Context
As you know, the COVID-19 vaccination passport came into force on September 1 in Quebec. It allows adequately vaccinated people 13 years of age and over to access non-essential activities, such as events and festivals, theatres, casinos, cinemas, fitness centres, team sports, bars, restaurants as well as some extracurricular activities.
For example, some places require proof of COVID-19 vaccination containing a QR code that displays the person’s vaccination status. To access certain places and activities, the person must be adequately vaccinated, by either having obtained two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or one dose if the person has been infected with COVID-19.
The vaccination passport contains only the name of the person as well as their vaccination status. It does not contain personal information or details of the vaccines received.
How to obtain the QR code
You will find, in summary, the three ways to obtain the QR code:
- In a paper format
- The QR code received by email or text message following the most recent dose of vaccine can be downloaded and printed. If you have not received the QR code, you can download it via the self-service portal using the following link: covid19.quebec.ca/PreuveVaccinale.
- If you do not have access to the Internet or to a printer, it is possible to call 1‑877‑644-4545 to receive your proof of vaccination by mail.
- As a PDF on a mobile device
- The QR code received by email or text message following the most recent dose of vaccine can be downloaded and stored on a mobile device. You will be able to present the proof directly from your mobile screen. If you have not received the QR code, you can download it via the self-service portal using the following link: covid19.quebec.ca/PreuveVaccinale.
- Using the VaxiCode application
- The VaxiCode application allows you to keep your proof of vaccination on your mobile device. You must add the QR code received by email or text message following the most recent dose of vaccine in the application. If you have not received the QR code, you can download it via the self-service portal using the following link: hcovid19.quebec.ca/PreuveVaccinale.
Note that the use of the VaxiCode application is not mandatory as a vaccination passport. Your QR code can be presented in PDF or paper format, as mentioned above.
If a person has a COVID-19 vaccine contraindication, as described in the Protocole d’immunisation du Québec (e.g., allergy to a vaccine component), they must see a doctor who will fill out a form to this effect. Afterwards, the person must present this form to a vaccination clinic to be included in the Québec Vaccination Registry and obtain their QR code.
